Vincenzo Zeno-Zencovich

Professor of Comparative Law  – Roma Tre University

Vincenzo Zeno- Zencovichis full professor of Comparative Law at the University of Roma Tre where he teaches Comparative Legal Systems. He is also the Director of the “Studying Law at Roma Tre” programme.
He has received degrees in Political Sciences and in Law from the University of Rome La Sapienza and has studied in the USA (Harvard Law School) and in England (Cambridge University).
After having taught in the Universities of Genoa, Sassari and Cagliari, he has joined the Law Department of the University of Roma Tre in 1999. He has been visiting professor in the University of Oxford and at University College London and in other US (Nova Southeastern) and European (Poitiers, Luxembourg, EHESS) universities.
From 2012 to 2015 he has been Rector of the Rome University for International Studies (UNINT).
From 2013 to 2021 he has been the Chairman of the Italian Association of Comparative Law (AIDC).
A significant part of his publications (which consist in over fifty volumes as author or editor, and over 300 articles in law reviews and books) is devoted to the legal aspects of ICT, including two extensive commentaries on Italian privacy laws, a handbook on telecoms law and two on media law. He is one the editors of the main Italian media and communications law review, Il diritto dell’informazione e dell’informatica, and on the editorial board of several other reviews.
He has been advisor to the Italian government in the third and fourth GSM operator CLS 2018(1)tenders, and in the 3G, 4G and 5G spectrum auctions, and has been extensively involved in the activities of the Italian telecommunications regulatory authority and of the Italian Ministry of communications.
He is member of the supervisory committee and of the board of several foundations engaged in the study of legal and economic aspects of the media, of ICT, and of communications.
As a practising lawyer he has successfully litigated in landmark cases in damages for defamation, consumer protection, tobacco litigation and liability of providers.
